An ACME anvil (standard 500 lbs) is positioned on a cliff edge or suspended structure above the target's known path. Upon visual confirmation of target, the anvil is released.\n\n## Equipment\n\n- ACME Anvil, 500 lb (Model: Classic)\n- Rope (for hoisting)\n- Cliff edge or overpass\n- Binoculars\n- Timing\n\n## Deployment Procedure\n\n1. Hoist anvil to elevation point\n2. Position directly above target's path\n3. Wait for target\n4. When target is directly below, release anvil\n5. Gravity does the rest\n\n## Timing Calculations\n\n| Drop Height | Fall Time | Target Speed | Required Lead |\n|-------------|-----------|-------------|---------------|\n| 50 ft | 1.8 sec | 30 mph | 79 ft |\n| 100 ft | 2.5 sec | 30 mph | 110 ft |\n| 200 ft | 3.5 sec | 30 mph | 154 ft |\n| Any height | Any time | 600 mph | Not calculable |\n\nNote: Target's actual speed makes timing impossible. By the time the anvil reaches road level, the target is in the next county.\n\n## Alternative: Pre-positioning\n\nPlace anvil on a trigger mechanism so it drops automatically when the target passes underneath. Success rate with trigger mechanism: 0%. In every test, the operator has triggered the mechanism while setting it up.\n\n## Maintenance\n\nAfter each deployment, the anvil must be retrieved from the canyon floor.
