# Anvil Drop System: Deployment Guide ## Overview Gravity-based interdiction system. An ACME anvil (standard 500 lbs) is positioned on a cliff edge or suspended structure above the target's known path. Upon visual confirmation of target, the anvil is released. ## Equipment - ACME Anvil, 500 lb (Model: Classic) - Rope (for hoisting) - Cliff edge or overpass - Binoculars - Timing ## Deployment Procedure 1. Hoist anvil to elevation point 2. Position directly above target's path 3. Wait for target 4. When target is directly below, release anvil 5. Gravity does the rest ## Timing Calculations | Drop Height | Fall Time | Target Speed | Required Lead | |-------------|-----------|-------------|---------------| | 50 ft | 1.8 sec | 30 mph | 79 ft | | 100 ft | 2.5 sec | 30 mph | 110 ft | | 200 ft | 3.5 sec | 30 mph | 154 ft | | Any height | Any time | 600 mph | Not calculable | Note: Target's actual speed makes timing impossible. By the time the anvil reaches road level, the target is in the next county. ## Alternative: Pre-positioning Place anvil on a trigger mechanism so it drops automatically when the target passes underneath. Success rate with trigger mechanism: 0%. In every test, the operator has triggered the mechanism while setting it up. ## Maintenance After each deployment, the anvil must be retrieved from the canyon floor. The operator must also be retrieved from the canyon floor.
