You are now eligible to accept quests, join parties, and die in interesting ways for money.\n\n## Getting Started\n\n### Step 1: Complete Your Profile\n\nYour profile must include:\n\n- **Name:** Your adventuring name. Real names are optional. \"xXDragonSlayer69Xx\" is technically allowed but will reduce your acceptance rate by 94%.\n- **Class:** Your primary specialization. Multi-class adventurers should list their primary class first.\n- **Level:** Self-reported. Questboard reserves the right to audit. Claiming Level 20 when you are Level 3 is grounds for permanent ban and also probably fatal.\n- **Skills:** List relevant skills. \"Breathing\" is not a skill. \"Not dying\" is a skill but only counts if you can demonstrate it.\n\n### Step 2: Pass the Assessment\n\nAll new adventurers must pass a basic assessment:\n\n- Identify 5 common monsters from silhouettes (the owl bear is the one that looks like an owl and a bear, people always get this wrong)\n- Demonstrate proficiency with at least one weapon (a torch does not count unless you are explicitly a torch specialist)\n- Complete a mock escort mission without losing the client (the client is a goat, the goat will try to wander off, this is part of the test)\n- Sign the liability waiver\n\n### Step 3: Join or Form a Party\n\nSolo adventuring is permitted but not recommended. The mortality rate for solo adventurers is 78%. The mortality rate for parties of 4-6 is a much more reasonable 31%.\n\n**Party composition recommendations:**\n\n| Role | Recommended | Common mistake |\n|------|-------------|---------------|\n| Tank | 1 | Having 0. Someone has to get hit. |\n| Healer | 1-2 | Having 0. \"We'll buy potions\" is not a healing strategy. |\n| Damage | 2-3 | Having 5. All damage, no healing, everyone dies. |\n| Support | 0-1 | Having 3. You'll buff each other beautifully and then lose to a goblin. |\n\n### Step 4: Accept Your First Quest\n\nStart with quests rated \"trivial\" or \"moderate.\" Common first quests include:\n\n- Clearing rats from a basement (this is a cliche but it builds character)\n- Delivering a package (do not open the package)\n- Finding a missing cat (the cat is usually fine, it just doesn't want to come home)\n- Guarding a caravan for a day (see our Escort Mission SLA)\n\nDo not accept dragon quests as your first quest. We lose 12 new adventurers per quarter this way.\n\n## Code of Conduct\n\n1. Do not steal from clients\n2. Do not steal from party members\n3. Do not steal from taverns (they talk to each other)\n4. Declare all loot. Questboard's cut is 15%.\n5. File incident reports within 48 hours\n6. Dead party members must be returned to their registered next of kin, not sold to necromancers\n","url":"/questboard/adventurer-onboarding/guide.md.json","account":{"id":"acct_NYUSG6iQhfgLNpibnAMYgOE7chst","name":"QuestBoard","url":"/questboard.json","slug":"questboard"},"tags":[],"urls":{"diff":"/api/questboard/adventurer-onboarding/guide.md/diff","versions":"/api/questboard/adventurer-onboarding/guide.md/versions"},"project":{"id":"proj_X0V0i4hV00Wq8pXY46O2aKE7F2MU","name":"Adventurer Onboarding","url":"/questboard/adventurer-onboarding.json","slug":"adventurer-onboarding"},"version_count":1,"locked_at":null,"locked_by":null,"uploaded_by":{"id":"user_aj48ZKYeQudW6RpAi7cVY90Bj2tb","username":"aldric_questboard","display_name":"Aldric Brightshield"},"uploaded_at":"2026-01-23T00:00:00Z"}
