# Frequently Asked Questions

## General

**Q: How do I get paid?**
A: Quest rewards are held in escrow by Questboard and released upon verified completion. "Verified" means the client confirms the quest is done, or in the case of client death, a neutral third party confirms it.

**Q: What happens if I die on a quest?**
A: Your registered next of kin will receive any outstanding payment minus Questboard's 15% fee and any applicable deductions. If you are resurrected, your account is automatically reactivated. Please update your profile if resurrection has changed your class or level.

**Q: Can I rate clients?**
A: Yes. Client ratings are visible to other adventurers. Common complaints include "didn't mention the curse," "wandered off during ambush," and "was actually a dragon in disguise."

**Q: What if the quest description was inaccurate?**
A: File a dispute through Questboard arbitration. Common examples: "clear a few rats" that turned out to be giant rats, "simple delivery" through a war zone, "guard duty" at a location that was already on fire.

+**Q: Is there a referral bonus?**
+A: Yes. Refer a new adventurer and receive 100 gold when they complete their first quest. The referred adventurer must survive the quest for the bonus to be paid. This condition was added after an incident we would rather not describe.

## Parties

**Q: My party member keeps stealing loot. What do I do?**
-A: File a conduct report. Repeat offenders are banned. If the stolen item is cursed, the problem often resolves itself.
+A: File a conduct report. Repeat offenders are banned. If the stolen item is cursed, the problem often resolves itself. For formal resolution, see the [dispute resolution process](../loot-distribution/dispute-resolution.md).

**Q: Can I kick someone from my party mid-quest?**
A: Yes, but you must provide 24 hours notice and safe passage to the nearest tavern. You cannot kick someone mid-combat. You cannot kick someone in a dungeon unless there is a clear exit route. These rules exist because of specific incidents we would rather not discuss.

**Q: What is the minimum party size for a dragon quest?**
-A: Four. We used to allow solo dragon quests. We no longer allow solo dragon quests.
+A: Four. We used to allow solo dragon quests. We no longer allow solo dragon quests. See the [party composition guide](party-composition-guide.md) for recommendations.

-## Technical
+**Q: Can I join multiple parties?**
+A: Yes, but not on overlapping quests. Questboard's scheduling system will prevent double-booking. If you manage to circumvent this (and people have tried), you will be responsible for completing both quests simultaneously. This has never gone well.

-**Q: The Tavern API is returning 418 for a real tavern.**
-A: The tavern may have been polymorphed. Contact the tavern owner or a qualified dispeller.
+## Payments and Fees

-**Q: My guild token expired while I was in a dungeon with no connectivity.**
-A: Tokens can be refreshed retroactively. Bring proof of dungeon entry (loot, scars, or a witnessed account from a surviving party member) to any Questboard office.
+**Q: Why does Questboard take 15%?**
+A: The fee covers quest matching, dispute arbitration, insurance administration, resurrection services (Gold tier and above), infrastructure maintenance, and our ongoing legal defense fund.

-**Q: The quest board at my local tavern is showing quests from the Shadow Realm.**
-A: This is a known issue in v1.2.0. Update to v1.2.1 or specify `plane=material` in your queries.
+**Q: Can I negotiate the fee?**
+A: No.

+**Q: What if the client doesn't pay?**
+A: Questboard guarantees payment for all posted quests. The client has already deposited the reward in escrow. If the client is deceased (common in dragon quests), the reward is still paid from escrow. If the client faked their death to avoid payment (this has happened twice), Questboard's collections team handles it. You do not want to meet the collections team.
