Request for Proposal: Dragon Slaying

Background

A dragon has taken up residence in the Ashfall Mountains, approximately 3 days travel from the capital. It has destroyed two villages and a toll bridge. The toll bridge is the primary concern.

Scope of Work

The selected party will locate, engage, and neutralize the dragon. "Neutralize" is defined as: the dragon is no longer a threat to regional infrastructure. Relocation is acceptable if the dragon can be convinced to move to a jurisdiction that is not our problem.

Qualified Parties

Responding parties must demonstrate:

  • At least 3 prior dragon engagements (wyverns do not count)
  • Fire resistance rating of Class B or higher
  • Valid adventuring license (expired licenses will not be considered)
  • Proof of liability insurance covering collateral damage up to 50,000 gold

Submission Format

Proposals must include:

  1. Party composition and relevant experience
  2. Proposed approach (stealth, direct assault, negotiation, trickery)
  3. Timeline with milestones
  4. Budget breakdown including consumables (potions, arrows, replacement armor)
  5. Risk assessment
  6. References from at least two previous clients who are still alive

Budget

The approved budget for this engagement is 10,000 gold, inclusive of expenses. Parties requesting more than 10,000 gold should provide justification. Parties requesting less than 5,000 gold will be treated with suspicion.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated on cost (30%), experience (30%), approach feasibility (20%), and whether the party seems like they will actually survive (20%).
